How To: Choose The Perfect Lip Colour

Step one:
Your first course of action will be to identify your skin's undertone. This will either be pink or yellow, yellow being the warmer tone and pink the cooler tone.

A good way to figure this out is to look at the colour of your veins. Looking at the wrist is the best way to do this. If they are more green than blue, you have a yellow undertone. More blue than green, it's pink. If your veins look both blue and green then you most likely have a neutral skin tone, which means most all shades will look great on you!

So, for yellow tones, try a warmer lip shade, and for pink tones go for cooler shades.

Step two:
Take the occasion into consideration:

Professional - For work situations, you should try to pick a colour just a few shades darker than your natural lip colour. That being said, if you like to go heavier with your eye make-up, stick with a nude lip.

Bridal - For your wedding make-up, a classic red lip colour is often the best way to go. Again, be sure to take your skin tone into consideration when choosing the best red.

Active - And no, I don't mean the gym (where you should really try to wear as little make-up as possible!). For active pursuits, try a neutral lip colour. Nude is the key here.

Party - This all depends on your personal style. For glam, a glossy or glittery colour will work best. If you have a bold style, go for a red, orange or pink lip. For a grungey/alternative look, choose dark plum shades. Try picking a shade from the NYX Glam Lipstick Aqua Luxe collection.

Date night - Rose colours are beautiful in soft lighting, reds and soft pink also work here. Avoid an over glossy look.

Try a shade from the NARS Final Cut Lip Pencil collection.

Et Voila! You should now have the knowledge you need to choose your perfect lip colour!

Estee Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint Review

Most days, I opt for a natural looking, 'barely there' make up style and tinted moisturize is one of my all-time favourites. So I was excited to try out Estee Lauder's DayWear Sheer Tint.

It is, as the name suggests, a very sheer tinted moisturizer, so if you need heavy coverage I would suggest going for a full-on foundation product and steering clear of sheer all together!

Don't get me wrong though, this product is great when you are in need of minimal coverage. It definitely evened out the look of my skin and reduced the sight of red and blotchy areas. I also found it lasts noticeably longer than other tinted moisturizers I have used.

DayWear also smells AMAZING! To me it's sent is fresh and fruity. If you find that kind of smell (especially on your face) unpleasant or overbearing I would give it a miss, though in my opinion it is not too strong a scent.

THE DETAILS:

Estee Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint Release Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Moisturizer
SPF 15 50ml - £38

  • Evens the look of skin tone
  • Reduces the appearance of premature aging signs
  • One sheer shade that works for every skin tone
  • Tint appears as you apply
  • Long-lasting hydration
  • Non-acnegenic
I can honestly say that this is one of the best tinted moisturizer I have tried, my only issue being that, for the price, I would hope for at least 75ml if not 100ml. However this a very, very good product.

Thursday Yoga: Setu Bandha Sarvangasana

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana
[Bridge Pose]

[setu = dam or bridge
bandha = lock
sarvangasana = shoulderstand]

Setu Bandha Sarvangasana is a bridge backbend pose that improves spinal flexibility.
For me it really helps to lower my stress levels and a lot of minor aches and pains.

I often find I have an aching back, shoulders and neck after a night out drinking (for who knows what reason! xD), the bridge pose is something I like to try and work in the day after a night out :)

The Pose

  • Lie down on you back on a yoga mat (much better than the floor!!) Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor. Extend your arms along the floor, palms flat.
  • Press your feet and arms firmly into the floor. Exhale as you lift your hips toward the ceiling.
  • Draw your tailbone upward.
  • Roll your shoulders back and underneath your body. Straighten your arms as much as possible, pressing your forearms into the mat. Reach your knuckles toward your heels.
  • Keep your thighs and feet parallel and Press your weight evenly across all four corners of both feet. Lengthen your tailbone toward the backs of your knees.
  • Stay in the pose anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Release with an exhalation, rolling the spine slowly down onto the floor.
  • Winter Warmers: Dazzling Blue
